I agree with you 100%. I actually thought I made the distinction clear in the article, I am a huge supporter of the Blackstars - Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez - in fact if you look through the blog you will see I have linked to their music throughout.
What I am not a supporter of is gangsta rap which I think has a very negative effect overall on society. In other words, I'm with ya.
As for the MASC, I can only speak about the members I have met, and they are almost all hip hop listeners, though I am sure they can be found in every demographic.

Thannks for stopping by!

Pretty sound advice but yet again you had to drag something into the mud to make your point. Can we all just blame all of the world's problems on hip hop? You give good advice but I can take hip hop out and put country music in and it would still convey the message, MASC can be found in every demograhpic not just hip hop. I am a die hard hip hop fan, and I have never seen or heard the guy who you put up smoking the blunt. By the way there is a big difference between hip hop and gangsta rap, few examples; Common is hip hop, Jeezy is rap ( the gangsta part is just an industry advisory), Lupe Fiasco is hip hop, Jim Jones is rap. Tell me if you have ever heard any of these albums back to back: Black Star, Like water for Chocolate, Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Illmatic, College Dropout or Late registration. If you can honestly tell me there is no message in any of those albums and that its crap, then you are very much entitled to your own opinion. I live and breathe hip hop, its a part of my life, its one of those things either you get it or you dont.
